The former Deputy Ashanti regional Minister and the former NADMO deputy coordinator Hon. Joseph Yammin has sued Member of Parliament for Assin Central; Kennedy Agyapong demanding GH¢95 million for defamation.
The writ which was filed today 27th May, 2020 named Joseph Yammin as the plaintiff and Kencity Media as second defendant and Hon. Kennedy Agyapong as the first defendant.
STATEMENT OF CLAIM BY PLAINTIFF JOSEPH YAMMIN
1.The Plaintiff is a farmer and a politician, resident in Kumasi in the Ashanti
Region of the Republic of Ghana.
2. The Plaintiff is a promising Politician who has the potential and capacity to
rise to the level of becoming the 1st gentleman of the nation.
3. The Plaintiff is a leading members of National Democratic Congress (NDC)
a political parties registered under the laws of Ghana.
4. The Plaintiff is a family man with a wife and three children.
5. The Plaintiff is a former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports between
2013 and 2014, a former Deputy Minister for Ashanti Region between 2014
to 2015 and a former Deputy National Coordinator in charge of operation for
National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in 2016 to 2017.
In the writ of summons, the plaintiff’s claim is for;
a. Damages of Ninety Five million Ghana cedis (Gh¢95,000,000.00) for defamatory
statements the defendants published and distributed against the Plaintiff which said
publication portrays the Plaintiff as wicked, criminal murderer, etc, which said words
in their true and natural sense has exposed the plaintiff to public ridicule hatred and
contempt in the eyes of the right thinking citizens of Ghana and numerous expatriates and Diplomats in Ghana.
b. An order directed at the defendants to retract the said publication on the 2
defendants airwaves for three (3) times a day for a year.
d. An order restraining the |defendants from publishing further falsehood against the Plaintiff.
e. Any further order or orders this Honourable court shall deem fit.
