12 Senior High Schools to Offer Aviation and Aerospace Engineering Courses

Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has revealed that 12 Senior High Schools (SHSs) will introduce aviation and aerospace engineering courses in collaboration with universities in the upcoming academic year.
As part of the government’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiative, 30 schools will also receive learning management systems loaded onto tablets.
These measures aim to support the STEM transformational agenda and offer students the opportunity to complete a year of college coursework before spending three years in university, rather than the traditional four-year program.
During the 2nd STEM Promotion Roadshow held at Abomosu STEM Model School in the Eastern Region, Dr. Adutwum emphasized the significance of education in driving the country’s economic transformation.
“We are introducing aviation and aerospace engineering in twelve schools across the country. Our collaboration with universities is characterized by creativity, as students enrolling in the program will have already completed one year of college work upon high school graduation,” Dr. Adutwum explained.
“This means that they will spend three years, instead of four, in university… The government fully recognizes that education is pivotal to our short-term, medium-term, and long-term transformation,” he added.
