27 E-block contracts terminated

• The contract of some E- block projects have been terminated by the President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government.
• This is according to the the Minister of Education of the Republic of Ghana.

According to the Education Minister Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, 27 poor performing a number of E- block contracts have been terminated by the Government.

The Minister further explained that thirty eight (38) of the E-blocks are currently under construction and are at various stages of completion.

He further added that the cost for completing the thirty eight (38) of the E-blocks is currently under review by the Ghana Education Trust Fund(GetFund).

Speaking in Parliament, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said “38 are currently ongoing, 27 are poor performing projects have been terminated. Mr. Speaker, there is a long list of our school that have been completed and those that are ongoing together with the one that have been terminated for inclusion in the records of this house.

Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Education has plans to complete the E-blocks that are at various stages of completion. Currently, the cost to complete the 38 E-blocks are under review by get fund.”

ABOUT E-BLOCKS

E-blocks are the 200 new Senior High Schools promised by the former President John Dramani Mahama led Government to help increase Senior High School access in the country.

However, work on many of the school buildings have stalled after the National Democratic Congress was voted out of Government and the New Patriotic Party led by President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo took over the governance of the country.
