Achimota Basic School petitions speaker over GES’s attempts to evacuate them from their current location

Management, parents and teachers of Achimota Preparatory and Junior High School have petitioned the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin over the Ghana Education Service’s attempts to evacuate them from their present location.

According to the petitioners, they have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament purposely to help them find an amicable solution to attempts by the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to evacuate the school from its current location and to change the school name.

They noted that, the school was established in 1950 and has been sharing the land with Achimota Senior High School for over seventy years (70), and see no reasons for such an entrenched decision or action against them.

This action followed the Court’s ruling for the Ghana Education Service to take control of the school and possible evacuation and renaming of the school among others.

Addressing the issues, the Speaker of Parliament Rt  Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin assured them that the matter will be presented on the floor of parliament for further discussion.

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) some weeks ago locks horns with the authority of the school over evacuation, renaming and take over.

GES’ directive to Achimota School to admit Rastafarians is in the right direction

According to Ghana Education Service (GES), the land and building being occupied by the Achimota Preparatory School and Junior High School form part of Achimota Senior High School (SHS) Land per the Achimota School Ordinance No. 7 & 1948.

This, according to them neccesitate the evacuation of the school from its recent location.
