Amidst the ongoing tension between Sarkodie and Yvonne Nelson, accompanied by differing public opinions, actor Adjetey Anang has extended his support to the actress. He urges her to remain “insensitive” to derogatory comments and maintain her focus on her education initiatives and providing better schooling for children.
During an interview on UTV’s United Showbiz, Adjetey Anang, who is set to launch his book, emphasized the importance of Yvonne ignoring negative remarks. He advised her against reacting in a way that would not benefit her in the long run.
“I just encouraged her that as much as possible, she should try to be insensitive to the comments,” Adjetey Anang said. “Some people are saying all sorts of things, so paying attention won’t help.”
He further emphasized that Yvonne’s primary focus should be on her kindergarten project, as it would bring her joy. He shared his own experience of facing trouble when he paid too much attention to critics in the past.
On June 18, 2023, Yvonne Nelson released her memoir titled ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,’ which recounted various life experiences, including her encounter with Sarkodie and her search for her father.
She revealed how she had to terminate her pregnancy because Sarkodie did not support the idea of keeping it. She also expressed her desire to spare her child from the pain she had experienced growing up without a father.
In response, Sarkodie released a song clarifying that Yvonne should not portray him as the one pushing for an abortion. He claimed that Yvonne and others had rejected the idea of his doctor attending to her and instead chose a doctor recommended by her friend, insisting that he was the best option.
Sarkodie’s rap also questioned Yvonne’s claim of being a good girl, suggesting that she is involved with multiple men. He admitted that he thought she was cool until he received hints about her sexual escapades during that time.
This development has sparked controversy, with people expressing their opinions on the matter. Some have criticized Sarkodie for being nonchalant and disrespecting women, while others have defended him for presenting his side of the story as best he could.
In light of the situation, Adjetey Anang emphasizes the need for sensitivity when expressing views.
“It’s very difficult for me that two people I admire in many ways are clashing,” he told MzGee. “I can’t condemn or judge anybody. I just hope for healing and that we won’t dwell on the negativity being thrown around. We’re not in their shoes, so we can only comment on what we’ve heard.”
