Akosombo Dam Spillage: Western Togoland activists are “mocking” us over government neglect – Okudzeto Ablakwa

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency sheds light on the challenges faced by his constituency regarding the Akosombo Dam spillage and the subsequent mockery from Western Togoland activists due to perceived government neglect.

Addressing the issue during an interview, Hon. Ablakwa emphasized the unity of all Ghanaians, regardless of regional differences. He expressed disappointment over a letter he received from the Western Togoland activists, particularly the Sechin group, who questioned the commitment of his constituents to the Ghanaian cause.

The Sechin group, known for its association with the Western Togoland separatist movement, includes individuals from Hon. Ablakwa’s constituency. Despite the lawmaker’s previous opposition to their activities, they pointedly questioned the loyalty of his constituents in the wake of government neglect.

Hon. Ablakwa, visibly distressed, recounted his opposition to the group’s divisive agenda, affirming his commitment to the Ghanaian project.

He emphasized the shared stake every region has in the country’s development and pointed out the crucial role of the Akosombo Dam, a vital national asset.

The lawmaker acknowledges the difficulties in maintaining this stance, particularly when actions by leaders of the ruling party, the NPP, contribute to division and strife. Despite these challenges, he reaffirmed his commitment to the nation and condemned any separatist or divisive agenda.
