President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to produce professional educators who will lead the government’s new national vision of education to drive rapid economic and social development.

Speaking at the 2nd investiture and induction of Nai Ghartey VII as the new Chancellor of UEW, the President charged the new Chancellor to use his office to ensure peace at the University.

The President also commended Alhaji Asumani Banda, the immediate past Chancellor of the University, for his leadership in steering UEW to greater heights. In 2016, UEW emerged as the third-best university in Ghana, and it was adjudged the most sustainable university in Ghana last year.

In response, Nai Ghartey VII assured the President of his commitment to chart a new path that will enhance the gains of the University. He also pledged to use alternative dispute resolution to ensure peace in the University, which has experienced recent conflicts.

The President’s call for UEW to produce professional educators who will drive national development underscores the crucial role of education in Ghana’s socio-economic development. UEW’s continued success is vital to achieving this vision, and the new Chancellor’s commitment to promoting peace and resolving conflicts is a positive step towards this goal.
