Allow teachers to go for face-to-face interactions with their Lecturers – GES

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa has directed District/Municipal/Metropolitan and Regional Directors to allow Junior High School (JHS) teachers who are persuing the three (3) Semester Top-Up Programmes designed by the Institute of Education, University of Cope Coast to report to their various campuses for face-to-face interactions with their Lecturers.
According to the Management of Ghana Education Service (GES), the Institute of Education, University of Cope Coast (UCC) has drawn their attention to the fact that some teachers of the Junior High School (JHS) who are part of the special programme to upgrade Diploma holders to degree, are expected to go for face-to-face interaction with their lecturers from 19th April to 1st May, 2021.

According to the letter Intercepted by Coverghana.com.gh, District Directors are to supervise head teachers of the affected schools to put in the necessary arrangements to ensure that academic work is not disrupted.
Regional Directors are also asked to direct District Directors to strictly supervise these arrangements to ensure that the students at the Junior High School do not lose out during the period from 19 April to 1st May 2021.
UCC opens admission for Diploma teachers to run 3-Semester Bachelor of Education Programme
Last year, the Institute of Education, University of Cope Coast (UCC) has designed a three (3) Semester Top-Up Programmes for teachers to upgrade Diploma holders to Degree in Basic Education across the Country.
GES announces Day Senior High Schools approved to run Day/Boarding Status
The first cohort of teachers who were enrolled have commenced their Programme last year while the second cohort have been enrolled to start the Top-Up Programmes this year. According to the Ministry of Education, in a statement made by the former Minister of Education Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the least requirement for employment to teach at the Basic School shall be First Degree in Basic Education by 2022.
