Ayikuma Methodist JHS wins 2023 National Core Subjects Quiz Competition for second time

Ayikuma Methodist Junior High School (JHS) has emerged victorious at the 2023 National Core Subjects Quiz Competition, making it the second time the school has won the competition. The competition was held on Friday, June 30, at the studios of TV Africa in Accra, and featured Ayikuma Methodist Basic School, Rising Star Montessori School, and Ekis Montessori School.

After the first round, Ayikuma Methodist JHS had 13 points, while Rising Star Montessori and Ekis Montessori had 10 and 7 points, respectively.

The second round saw Ayikuma Methodist JHS gaining 9 points compared to Rising Star Montessori’s 9 points and Ekis Montessori’s 12 points.

In the third round, Ayikuma Methodist JHS obtained 12 points, with Rising Star Montessori gaining 11 points and Ekis Montessori 4 points. Finally, in the last round, Ayikuma Methodist JHS gained 11 points, with Rising Star Montessori also gaining 11 points and Ekis Montessori getting 17 points.

The competition aims to promote academic excellence in core subjects among JHSs in Ghana, including English Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Integrated Science.

Ayikuma Methodist JHS is a public school located in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region, with a long history of academic excellence and a good record of producing students who perform well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Apart from winning the National Core Subjects Quiz, Ayikuma Methodist JHS has also won several other academic competitions, and has a strong extracurricular program, including football, basketball, volleyball, choir, drama club, and debating team. The victory of Ayikuma Methodist JHS is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and parents of the school.

The National Core Subjects Quiz is an annual quiz competition for JHSs in Ghana, organized by the Verbal Transformers Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes education in Ghana.

The defending champions, Ayikuma Methodist Basic School, were expected to win again, and they did not disappoint. They have a strong team of students who are very knowledgeable in the core subjects, and they trained hard for the competition.
