Bawku: Two people killed, others injured in latest attack
After about three months of relative calm, Bawku has again returned back to it’s ugly state following recent event of attacks.
Two people met their untimely death on Monday morning when a bus they were traveling with from Kumasi to the area got attacked upon reaching the area.
The assailants shot and killed the driver and his mate with some passengers onboard also getting injured. The rest of the passengers were freed and the bus was set ablaze.
Heavy gun battle broke in the Bawku township immediately after that incident on the Monday morning.
It is not clear what triggered the recent attacks but reports indicates it is in connection with the usual chieftaincy dispute in the area.
Serious conflict broke in 2021 due to the dispute between the Kusasi and the Mamprusi ethnic groups.
Member of parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has therefore condemned the incident and called on the security agencies to maintain their vigilance
