BenEssien Movement requests for feasibility of regulation of hostels around UCC campus
BenEssien Movement headed by a Level 300 student of the University of Cape Coast reading Bachelor of Laws and a candidate in this year’s UCC SRC Presidential election (Benjamin Essien-Davis) writes to the Rent Control Department of UCC requesting the feasibility of regulation of hostels around UCC campus.
On the 18th June of 2024, the leader of the BenEssien Movement, Benjamin Essien-Davis (the SRC Presidential candidate) in a letter to the Rent Control Department of UCC spelt out the strategy his team will use to help control rent for students.
Below is the letter to the UCC Rent Control Department
REQUEST FOR FEASIBILITY OF REGULATION OF HOSTELS AROUND UCC CAMPUS
“I humbly write to your office to request information on the above subject.”
“I am a level 300 student of the University of Cape Coast, reading Bachelor of Laws and a candidate in this year’s UCC SRC Presidential election.”

“As part of my team’s (BENESSIEN MOVEMENT) policies, we would like to collaborate with your outfit and UCC management to regulate hostels around UCC campus in terms of the exorbitant prices they charge students, the poor services some of them provide, issues of some hostels built in waterlogged areas which render students homeless when there is flooding thereby hampering students’ academic work, among others.”
“We think the above issues fall within your jurisdiction and so we would like to seek its feasibility.”
