Cargill Enhances Education in Kpone Katamansu with Refurbished ICT Lab
Cargill, a cocoa processing company located at the Tema Freezone enclave, has made a significant contribution to education in the Kpone Katamansu municipality.
In a recent ceremony, the Director of Education, Mr. Harry Evans Arthur, along with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Samuel Okoe Amankwah, and officials from both the Municipal Education Directorate and the Kpone Katamansu Municipal Assembly, celebrated the official opening of a refurbished and well-resourced I.C.T. Lab provided by Cargill.
The project, which began on 10th October, 2023, and was completed on 3rd November, 2023, aimed to improve the quality of education in the community.

The newly refurbished I.C.T. Lab was handed over to the Headmistress of the Kpone Methodist B school, Madam Sophia Yankson Mensah, who expressed her gratitude to Cargill for their generosity.
The refurbishment included several major works to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the I.C.T. block. The furniture was retooled to serve a more purposeful function, providing a conducive learning environment for the students.
The company also installed 18 Dell computers with keyboards, mouse, and WIFI dangles, along with a WIFI router loaded with internet data for five months.

In addition, a 65″ TV monitor for demonstrations, two Samsung 2.0 air conditioning units, upgraded wiring with surge protectors and earthing, repaired ceilings, and a security door were added to improve the overall infrastructure of the lab.
Furthermore, each computer in the lab has been equipped with an e-library installation, providing access to study materials on English grammar, complete French grammar video lessons from beginner to advanced levels, as well as mathematics video lessons from beginner to advanced levels.
This comprehensive resource will undoubtedly enhance the learning experience for the students at Kpone Methodist B school.
During the ceremony, Mr. Harry Evans Arthur, the Director of Education, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of providing quality education to all students.
He commended Cargill for their commitment to education and their efforts in improving the I.C.T. Lab at Kpone Methodist B school.
The impact of Cargill’s contribution is not limited to one stream of the school. The company also visited the computer lab of the A stream and took inventory of its condition.

The Managing Director, Salifou Yohunu, along with the Director of HR, Francis Yohunu, Cargill Cares representative, Mr. Abraham Tawiah, and project manager, Enifah Dzimadzor, promised to refurbish the computer lab for the A stream, just as they have done for the B stream.
This commitment demonstrates Cargill’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for all students. The refurbishment of the I.C.T. Lab at Kpone Methodist B school is a testament to the positive impact that public-private partnerships can have on education in our communities.
