CENIT Energy Limited terminates contracts with GTS Engineering Limited

The CENIT Energy Limited has terminated their contracts with GTS Engineering Limited effective 31st December 2022. This is to affect about 65 person losing their Job after 31st December 2022.

In the letter signed by Mr. Victor Onoja, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) says; “We wish to inform you that CENIT Energy Limited will no longer be renewing or extending the terms of the Operation and Maintenance contract after 31st December, 2022.”

The owners (Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT)) also indicated in their letter that there is going to be some sort of competitive tendering methods for operations and maintenance management services. Hence if you are to contract the CENIT plant, your company or organization would be called to participate.

Per investigations, in 2013 there was a contract signed on the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) for 126 megawatts power plant from CENIT Energy Limited. Initially, the agreement came to an end in 2020, but they renewed the contract for another two (2) years.

Also, within the two (2) years contract, there were some changes in terms and policies. The contract was reviewed every month by CENIT Energy management. They also went ahead in cutting off 50% of their Operations and Maintenance (O&M). This was done without the knowledge of GTS Engineering Limited.

Albert N. Ayirebi- Acquah the Commercial manager for CENIT Energy Limited also added that the termination of contract was purely commercial and nothing else. This is because they are doing this for sustainability seek hence laying off some expenditures.
