Certificates obtained from Ghanaian universities are of no value when you travel abroad -Flowking Stone discloses

The well-known Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Flowking Stone, has offered his perspective on the challenges faced by Ghanaians working abroad, particularly in low-skilled occupations. He emphasizes the limited recognition of university credentials acquired in Ghana, leading to difficulties in securing official employment in foreign countries.

The undisputed rapper previously belonged to a duo team called BRADEZ, a Multi-talented musical duo made up of the two blood brothers by the names of Kwaku Nsiah Boamah (Flow King-Stone) and Kwaku Nsiah-Amankwah (Kunta Kinte).

According to Flowking Stone, many Ghanaian university degrees lack acceptance outside the nation, compelling individuals to start their professional journeys anew upon migration.

In an interview on Property FM, a radio station based in Cape Coast, he dismissed rumors about engaging in low-skilled jobs in the United Kingdom, where he currently resides. Instead, he acknowledged the significance of certification in the UK and highlighted the common experience of Ghanaians having to reestablish themselves professionally upon relocation.

In Flowking Stone’s words, most certificates acquired in Ghana don’t work here outside the country. That’s the reason why most people resort to doing menial jobs that don’t need certification here abroad, and so you have to start afresh.

This statement underscores the prevalent trend among Ghanaians working abroad to opt for employment that doesn’t require certification due to the challenges associated with the recognition of Ghanaian qualifications.

Sharing, he said “I don’t wash car tyres here in the UK and I’m not doing any menial jobs like washing of the cooking utensils which is also not bad at all. But here in the UK, what I’ve realized is about certification and most certificates we acquire in Ghana don’t work here outside the country.

“That’s the reason why most people resort to doing menial jobs that don’t need certification here abroad and so you have to start afresh.”

Flowking Stone himself is a BSc Bio-Chemistry graduate of KNUST. He graduated in 2007. His acknowledgment of the certification challenges faced by many Ghanaians abroad reflects a broader issue in the international job market.

The musician, Flowking Stone’s assertion emphasizes the diverse paths individuals may take after obtaining degrees in Ghana and the adjustments required when pursuing careers abroad.
