Chiefs of Nogokpo summon Archbishop Charles Agyinasare

The Chiefs of Nogokpo, a town in the Volta Region, have issued a summons to Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the Founder of Perez Chapel International, requesting his appearance before them within a period of fourteen days.

Their decision comes as they express dissatisfaction with the explanation provided by the Archbishop regarding his previous comment, which described Nogokpo as the headquarters of demons in the region.

Seeking a peaceful resolution, they have called upon the National Peace Council to facilitate Archbishop Charles Agyinasare’s appearance before the council of elders of the Nogokpo community within the given timeframe.

During a press conference held on Friday, June 2, the convenor of the community, Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nonyigbey, stated, “The Archbishop, in his second sermon and clarification, showed no remorse or regretfulness, indicating that he deliberately decided to tarnish the good reputation of the people of Nogokpo. This calculated damage mechanism reflects the usual religious intolerance aimed at weakening African Traditional Religion.”

Archbishop Agyinasare had previously clarified that he did not harbor any ill intentions with his comment about Nogokpo, a town located in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region

In his statement, he referred to Nogokpo as the headquarters of demons in the region and recounted an incident where his colleague’s car experienced a tire malfunction upon entering Nogokpo during their journey from Aflao to Agbozome.

Following the criticisms he faced, the Archbishop offered further clarification, stating, “I have received calls from people very close to me, and my attention has been drawn to social media commentary on some portions of comments I made this past Thursday during the Supernatural Empowerment Summit here in the Perez Dome.”

He continued, “To drive home my point, I made reference to several instances where I have encountered manifestations of demonic powers in my crusades, which have taken me to over 92 countries worldwide. In reference to Nogokpo, I wish to clarify that I never intended to refer to the town but an incident that happened after a crusade at Aflao.”

He expressed regret over any misrepresentation or misinformation that may have characterized subsequent commentary and reportage of his statements. He emphasized that his intention was not to denigrate any specific town or its people but rather to elucidate the principle of divine protection to his congregants.

Acknowledging his longstanding cordial relationship with the people of the Volta Region, he shared, “My Ministry over the past 40 years has been one that has spoken up at critical times in our nation as a spiritual gatekeeper, and I remain committed to serving God’s people and our nation as the spirit directs.”

The resolution of this matter will be eagerly awaited, as the people of Nogokpo and the wider community hope for an amicable outcome that fosters understanding and harmony among all parties involved.
