The 2018 batch of trained teachers who were forcefully taken through the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) and later a one year mandatory national service in 2019 now has the cause to smile as the government of Ghana begins paying their salaries after six months of work with all arrears.
These teachers who employment was effective on 1st December, 2019 have been paid their salary arrears including their May salaries after continuous agitations from some groups among them when their Staff IDs failed to reach them and when their biometric registration exercise got postponed indefinitely amidst the COVID-19 unfortunate outbreak.

If recalled, the newly recruited teachers complained in a twitter hash tag battle dubbed #PayNewlyRecruitedTeachersNow for been neglected by their employer at the time they were ready for biometric registration, of which the outbreak of the pandemic affected negatively.
In May 2020, the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) rescheduled for their biometric registration which begun May 22 in order to be able to pay them their salaries to help them reduce the heat they face from this pandemic outbreak.

The Salary payment voucher for May 2020 has been issued for validation on May 24th after it has delayed for days and having some news portals report that the salaries of government have been put in a limbo as the validation system encountered a technical challenge.
Confirmations from validators (mostly heads of schools) indicates a positive response from CAGD in the pocket of the newly recruited teachers as they were paid their outstanding salaries in full which covers December 2019 to May 2020.
