Director-General of GES speaks on promotion of Degree-holding teachers

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has addressed the long-standing concerns of degree-holding teachers regarding their promotion.

In a social media post, he assured them that the management of GES has taken a keen interest in this matter and will soon share the good news once all necessary processes are complete.

“Thank you very much for your submission. I want to assure you that management has taken key interest with regards to this issue and will soon share the good news when all is done,” D-G of GES replied in a comment.

Many teachers across the country have expressed their displeasure over the unfair treatment by GES concerning promotions. Despite meeting the required qualifications, numerous teachers who initially held diploma certificates but have since upgraded to degree certificates have not been promoted to the rank of Principal Superintendent (PS), which they rightfully deserve.

These dedicated educators have invested significant resources to enhance their qualifications, aligning with the evolving educational landscape in Ghana. However, their efforts have been overlooked, and they remain stuck in the Senior Superintendent I and Superintendent II ranks.

The delay in addressing this issue has led some individuals to resort to unconventional means to secure their rightful positions. The Ghanaian degree-holding teachers are seeking fair and transparent promotion processes, devoid of any illegal means. They deserve recognition and rewards for their commitment to professional development, which ultimately benefits the Ghanaian educational system.

By addressing the promotion concerns of degree-holding teachers, GES can boost teacher morale, encourage continuous professional growth, and enhance the overall quality of education in Ghana.
