ECG implements spot-billing system to tackle overbilling concerns

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has taken a significant step to address the issue of overbilling by introducing a spot-billing system.
This system according to ECG aims to overcome the challenges caused by non-reading of customers’ meters, which often leads to inaccurate bill estimations.
In an official press statement released on February 2, 2024, ECG announced the implementation of this new initiative. The spot-billing system involves the use of advanced reading meters that will accurately capture customers’ electricity consumption and integrate the data into the central ECG database.
By adopting this system, ECG aims to provide instant and accurate billing for customers, thereby minimizing errors and preventing overpayments. The company assures all customers that the spot-billing system will effectively address the concerns associated with overbilling and incorrect bill estimations.
