Education Minister launches second edition of STEMNNOVATION competition

Ghana’s STEM education received a significant boost with the successful launch of the second edition of the STEMNNOVATION competition on July 3rd, 2023, at the Accra Technical Training Institute by the Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

The competition, which is open to all senior high schools, senior high technical schools, and TVET schools across the country, aims to inspire creativity and critical thinking among students while fostering a passion for STEM education.

The initiative builds upon the success of the inaugural edition, which attracted hundreds of participating schools and showcased remarkable talent.

The Ministry of Education is determined to expand and enhance the competition even further this year, as it aligns with the government’s commitment to advancing STEM education in Ghana, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills necessary for success in the digital age.

The competition features a broader range of categories, including robotics, coding, renewable energy, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. By encouraging students to engage with these disciplines from an early age, the competition is cultivating a generation of critical thinkers and problem solvers who will contribute to the country’s development.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Education emphasized the need to break boundaries created for Ghana’s youth, allowing them to take charge and change the fortunes of the nation. “Together we can achieve the transformation we desire as a nation,” he said.

The STEMNNOVATION competition presents an excellent opportunity for Ghana’s youth to showcase their talents and creativity while contributing to the country’s development in the digital age.
