Electoral Commission confirms readiness for District Level Assembly Elections on Tuesday

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced its full preparedness for the District-Level Assembly Elections, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
EC said a significant number of candidates, totaling 66,257, are vying for assembly and unit committee positions in the upcoming local polls. Among them are 18,755 assembly member candidates and 47,502 unit committee member candidates.
These candidates will compete across 6,215 electoral areas, encompassing 216 metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies.
Dr. Sereboe Quarcoo, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, confirmed that comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure the smooth organization of the elections. He reassured the public that there would be an adequate supply of electoral materials at all polling stations on Tuesday.
Dr. Quarcoo stated, “All the materials are there, except for the ballot papers. We do not deliver materials in partial quantities; we ensure a full delivery. Therefore, we do not anticipate any shortages. However, if any shortages occur, the district office will promptly address them.”
The EC’s assurance of sufficient preparations aims to instill confidence in the electoral process and ensure a successful and efficient election day.
