Expel Patrick Karikari Antwi from TTAG activities – A former TTAG scribe tells TTAG leadership
Antwi Kakari Patrick, the convenor of Teachers and Trainees Advocacy (TTA)
A former National Deputy Secretary who served as an acting General Secretary of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) Alhassan Mohammed Adama is calling on the leadership of the Association to, with immediate effect expel Patrick Karikari Antwi from all activities of the Association.
Alhassan Mohammed Adama, in a statement intercepted by Coverghana.com.gh said, the current political status of Patrick Karikari Antwi , the convenor of Teachers and Trainees Advocacy (TTA) contravenes the constitution of TTAG and must be removed from the Association’s Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) since TTAG is non partizan Association.
The former scribe of the Association who served in the 2016/2017 TTAG year believes that, the former National Public Relations Manager of the Association who was suspended during the 2014/2015 TTAG year due to his misbehavior has openly advocated and still advocating against TTAG from time immemorial.
According to him, “What is even more dangerous is his open declaration of support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and even more exasperating is the fact that, he jumps from one media house to the other campaigning for the government in the name of a former official of TTAG. Such a political figure cannot continue to parade himself as a CRC member of TTAG. This is an affront to the constitution of TTAG. A member of the CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE cannot be breaking the neck of that same constitution with impunity in broad day light” He explained.
According to reports, Patrick Karikari Antwi was suspended by TTAG as a Public Relations Manager in 2015. The convenor of Teachers and Trainees Advocacy (TTA) was said to have been one among many who openly fought the leadership of the Association in 2018 in TTAG’s fight against the introduction of the controversial Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination and National Service using his group TTA in a meeting with the Sector Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and through series of press statements. He and his team were said to have paraded themselves on an Accra-Based Radio station Asempa FM to openly fight the leadership of the Association in its bid against National Service among many.
Alhassan Mohammed Adama, having observed all these feels very sad hence calling on the able leadership of the Association to immediately expire Patrick Karikari Antwi’s membership in Constitutional Review Committee of the Association to redeem and safeguard TTAG’s integrity.

There comes a time when silence becomes a betrayal. Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter ” These are the words of Martin Luther King Junior. I write this article with deep passion after several days of reflection and retrospection. I also do so with good intent and purposefully to help preserve the integrity of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), an association I served with pride and honor.
Again, I do so as a well meaning ex-Officio member of this noble association who desires to see it progress and even transcend boundaries. In every human institution, there will always be hitches. Indeed, there’s no perfection in humanity. However, those imperfections must not be deliberate.
The constitution of TTAG spells out categorically the STATUS of the association. Thus, in article 5 “TTAG is a democratic, non-partisan independent association of teacher trainees in Ghana” As such, it is incumbent upon the NEC to uphold the constitution with integrity.
For sometime now, I have keenly followed and observed happenings in the frontline of TTAG with dismay. As someone who know the impact TTAG has had on the lives of many, it is incumbent upon me to help save TTAG from further destruction . WE MEAN WELL so “Y3N HW3 MMA 3NS3I ” . The Actions of some “reckless” individuals is endangering the life of the association. In fact, it is obnoxious to say the least and is gradually bringing the association to its knees.
The last time I served on a committee of TTAG was in 2019. I happened to be the chairman of the Assessment and Evaluation Committee. A committee instituted somewhere in 2018 to evaluate and assess the output of executive officers. Since then, I declared myself not fit for any TTAG job. Off course, if it is contractual, fine. My reason was simple. I’m now very active in party politics as against the values and principles of TTAG. Even if I have something to do with TTAG now, it should be out of solidarity.
I may choose to attend TTAG programs out of love like my good friend, Awini Abdullai Akologo (who is also into active politics) but I can’t speak for them neither can I contribute in any official position.
Respectfully, I call on the National Executive Council of TTAG to as a matter of urgency, remove Patrick Karikari Antwi , a one time Public Relations Manager (PRM) of the association who got suspended for his misbehavior and misdemeanor.
He has been against any advocacy of TTAG from time immemorial. What is even more dangerous is his open declaration of support for the NPP and even more exasperating is the fact that, he jumps from one media house to the other campaigning for the government in the name of a former official of TTAG. Disgusting! Isn’t ?? Such a political figure cannot continue to parade himself as a CRC member of TTAG. This is an affront to the constitution of TTAG. A member of the CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE cannot be breaking the neck of that same constitution with impunity in broad day light.
If the fruit is forbidden, its seed cannot be edible. If Party politics is forbidden in TTAG, Patrick Karikari Antwi should have no business with you. It makes it appear like though, the association is now one of the branches of the ruling government.
I am confused why the TTAG president and coordinator will allow that violation of the constitution to operate, It is said that “He who beats the drum for a mad man to dance, is himself a mad man”
Patrick Karikari Antwi maybe causing havoc to TTAG. But then, those of you (executives) tolerating his evil deeds can be considered more dangerous than him and posterity will not forgive you. Teacher trainees will not forgive you.
You may want to consider this harmless advice because it will safeguard the integrity you have now but if you fail to do the needful, think about tomorrow. Also consider yourselves as ever disorganizing it.
Before I draw down the curtains, take this final advice. Ponder over it too. The teacher trainees whom you are serving are discerning enough. You have their mandate to serve their interest. Don’t take them for granted. Don’t abuse the power bestowed upon you. An intelligent enemy is better than a foolish friend.
“Ghanaians are not timid as has been suggested in the foreign press. Far from it. They may be slow to anger and may take time to organize and act. But once they are ready, they strike and strike hard. It pays no one to temper with Ghanaians freedom and dignity.”
When trainees begin to roar, you can’t stand the heat.
By the way, when are you handing over??
Kind regards.
Alhassan Mohammed Adama.
(Former TTAG Vice/Acting Secretary)
