The former President of the Republic of Mali, President Amadou Toumani Touré has passed on.
The late Former President Amadou Toumani Touré was the President of Mali from the year 2002 until he was succeeded Amadou Sanogo in the year 2012.
Amadou Toumani Touré reportedly passed on today 10th November, 2020 in Istanbul in Turkey where he was receiving medical treatment until his demise. He died at the age of seventy two (72).

Before becoming President, Amadou Toumani Touré was the head of President Moussa Traoré’s personal guard when a popular revolution overthrew the regime in March 1991 and Colonel Amadou Toumani Touré arrested the President and led the revolution.
Ten years after retiring from the military, Colonel Amadou Toumani Touré became a Politician and contested as President in 2002 and because the President of Mali. He was re-elected in 2007 to a second term until 2012 when he left office.
