FULL REPORT OF AN INCIDENT OF AN ATTACK ON SOME AWLIME YOUTH BY A KNOWN GANG FROM TSIKPOE IN THE DORFOR TRADITIONAL AREA OF NORTH TONGU DISTRICT OF GHANA
At exactly 9:00 GMT on Sunday 7th January 2024, there were loud noises of an earth-moving (caterpillar) machine working within the boundary of Awlime stool land. The elders sent two youths to find out what was happening and who authorized the operator to work on the land without permission or approval from Torgbe Dordzi III.
The youth arrived at the scene and questioned the operator, upon interrogation; the land was sold to one private developer Mr. Sarfo Ebenezer who wanted to use the land for commercial purposes. The operator was ordered to stop work since Togbe Dordzi III is pursuing legal action against some faction on the same land and besides the person who sold the land is not known as chief or stool father within Dorfor traditional area.
The operator agreed and stopped the operation, soon, one Mr. Afro Stephen also known as Vudzorgbe made a phone call to organize some youth from Tsikpoe to come, not too long after, a motto king carrying a group of armed youth appeared, they carried sticks, guns, and machetes. These youths numbering over 15 started attacking the delegation from Awlime, they fired a gun and hit them with sticks and machetes.
These known men were holding and firing guns. Below is the list of their names and the firing arms:
Afro Stephen – (pistol),
Asare – (single bar)
Newton – (single bar)
Others are: Agboku Moses aka Olu, Agboku Emmanuel aka Fetriti, Elinam, etc
According to an account of an eyewitness, the delegation from Awlime was inflicted with wounds on their heads, jaws, arms, backs, and legs.
These victims were sent to Juapong Police Station for a medical form and later they were sent to Tagadzi Polyclinic where they were currently receiving treatment, some of them were also referred to Akuse and Akosombo VRA hospital for a further scan and bone treatment.
The Awlime community vowed that if swift actions are not taken to apprehend the perpetrators of this crime, they have no option but to put the law into their own hands, we recall the gruesome murder of our stool father in 2017, and to date, no prosecution has been done.
