GES announces transfer and disbursement of Academic Intervention Fund

The Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has received the Academic Intervention Fund and announced its transfer to schools.

The notice was signed on January 31, 2024, by Stephen Kwaku Owusu, Deputy Director-General, and copied to the following offices:

The Chairman, GES Council, Accra

The Director-General, GES, Hqtrs, Accra

The Deputy Director-General (Q&A), GES, Hqtrs, Accra

The Financial and Controller, GES, Hqtrs, Accra

The Chief Accountant, GES, Hqtrs, Accra

The Chief Internal Auditor, GES, Hqtrs, Accra

The Ag Director, Schools and Instructions, GES, Hqtrs, Accra

According to the announcement, the amount of money to be received by each school is as follows in percentage:

Below are the guidelines to be followed in sharing the funds among staff.

Distribution Ratios

1. CATEGORY OF STAFF – Management

  • DAY -5%
  • BOARDING -5%

2. CATEGORY OF STAFF – Teaching

  • DAY -75%
  • BOARDING -70%

3. CATEGORY OF STAFFNon-teaching

  • DAY -20%
  • BOARDING -25%

For the avoidance of doubt, the School Management according to GES refers to; Head, Assistants, Senior Housemaster/Mistress, and Accountant.

Please note:

1. Income Tax has already been deducted in bulk at the GES Headquarters.

2. Special attention should be given to the kitchen staff.

3. Refer to the Chief Accountant of GES, Headquarters, if the above distribution ratios compromise equity and fairness.

4. Each Cost Centre Manager must set up a committee to share the amount to be received, indicating the amount each staff is allocated, and forward the same to the Director-General through mark.benyih@ges.gov.gh before the funds are transferred to the schools.

5. These allocations should be endorsed by the Head and Accountant.
