GES applications and nominations for Ghana Teacher Prize 2023
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the National Teaching Council (NTC) has opened the portal for applications and nominations for the Ghana Teacher Prize 2023. The prize is aimed at recognizing the outstanding contributions of teachers, administrators, and non-teaching staff in the pre-tertiary education space in Ghana.
The categories for this year’s awards are Teaching (Pre-Tertiary), Teacher in Administration & Leadership (Pre-Tertiary), Non-Teaching (Pre-Tertiary), and Best College Tutor (College of Education). Interested applicants can apply through the link provided https://ntc.gov.gh/ghana-teacher-prize-2023, and the deadline for applications is May 31, 2023.
TEACHING CATEGORY
The criteria for selection for the Teaching category include recognition of the teacher’s achievements in the classroom and beyond, employing innovative and effective instructional practices, achievinsg demonstrable student learning outcomes, providing value-based education that promotes global citizenship, achievements in the community beyond the classroom, contribution to teaching and the teaching profession, professional competence, personality factors, and innovations and creativity. Nomination can be made through self-nomination, staff nomination, PTA of school nomination, community nomination, and union nomination.
NON-TEACHING CATEGORY
For the Non-Teaching category, the criteria for selection include achieving demonstrable performance indicators, recognition of staff achievements in the institution or office, helping the department in which the staff works to achieve its targets, commitment, achievements in the community beyond the institution or office, professional competence, personality factors, contribution to the community, and innovations and creativity. Nomination can be made through self-nomination, staff nomination, PTA of school nomination, community nomination, and union nomination.
TEACHING IN ADMINISTRATION AND LEADERSHIP CATEGORY
For the Teacher in Administration & Leadership category, the criteria for selection include achieving demonstrable performance, recognition of the staff’s achievements in the institution or office, helping the department in which the staff works to achieve its targets, commitment, community service, contribution to teaching and the teaching profession, professional competence, personality factors, contribution to the community, and innovations and creativity. Nomination can be made through self-nomination, staff nomination, PTA of school nomination, community nomination, and union nomination.
