GES begins issuance of text messages to qualified 2023 promotion exams candidates

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced the distribution of SMS text messages to candidates who have successfully passed the 2023 promotion test.
This move comes after concerns were raised regarding the quality of questions in the aptitude test.
In a statement released by the GES, it was acknowledged that efforts had been made to address the concerns raised about the quality of questions presented during the promotion test.
The Service also congratulated itself for taking the initiative to address these concerns and ensure fairness in the evaluation process.
The individual who initially raised these concerns expressed their satisfaction with the GES’s response. “I congratulate the GES for its bold decision to look into all my allegations about the quality of questions being asked during the Aptitude Test,” they stated.
However, they acknowledged that doubts might arise about the pass rate due to the anomalies.
Despite this, they emphasized that a majority of candidates had passed and that measures had been taken to rectify any errors to prevent mass failure.
Looking ahead, the GES is advised to maintain a rigorous approach to question formulation to maintain the integrity of the promotion process.
The suggestion is that each question should be meticulously scrutinized to ensure the validity and fairness of the exam.
Additionally, attention is drawn to the style of questioning, particularly the inclusion of questions that require candidates to “FILL IN SPACES” without possible answers.
This type of questioning could be attributed to the lower pass rate among Deputy Director candidates.
The distribution of SMS text messages to qualified candidates began at precisely 4:00 PM today, marking a significant step in notifying successful candidates of their achievement.
In a background statement, it was revealed that the promotion test aimed to elevate teachers to different teaching grades, boasting a commendable success rate of 69%.
A total of 55,917 candidates out of the total number met the required threshold for promotion.
The promotion test covered various teaching grades including Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent. The breakdown of results for each grade is as follows:
Deputy Director Grade: Out of 8,565 candidates who participated in the test, 4,655 candidates (54%) passed the examination successfully.
Assistant Director I Grade: Among the 25,556 candidates who undertook the test, an impressive 21,749 candidates (85%) achieved success.
Assistant Director II Grade: Out of the 40,020 candidates sitting for the Assistant Director II grade promotion, 24,581 candidates (61%) emerged victorious.
Principal Superintendent Grade: The test saw participation from 6,668 candidates vying for the Principal Superintendent grade, with 4,932 candidates (74%) triumphing in the examination.
