The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has pledged to sponsor the tertiary education of Akosua Adjei Boateng, a brilliant but orphaned student from Juaso Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti region.

Akosua, who emerged as the overall best student in the Technical programme, secured an impressive 8As in her exams. However, her academic progress was threatened by financial constraints, as she was unable to continue her education at the tertiary level.

Dr. Nkansah, a native of Juaso, was moved by Akosua’s story and pledged to sponsor her tertiary education during the WAEC Distinction Awards last Wednesday. He later hosted Akosua, her family, and the Head of Juaso Senior High Technical School in his office to discuss her career aspirations and next steps.

The GES Director-General expressed his conviction that Akosua will excel in her tertiary education and was humbled to be a part of her journey. This gesture of support is a testament to Dr. Nkansah’s commitment to education and his desire to see talented students like Akosua Boateng succeed despite the challenges she faces /or they face.

Akosua’s story is an inspiration to many, and her determination to excel despite adversity is a reminder that with the right support, anything is possible. The GES Director-General’s pledge to sponsor her education is a beacon of hope for many students facing similar challenges, and a reminder that there are still good Samaritans who care about the welfare of others.
