GES directs teachers to pay 10% of their basic salary for occupying school bungalows

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed teachers occupying school/government bungalows to prepare to pay 10% of their basic salaries as rent.
The information was made known in a letter dated March 11, 2022 and signed by the Western Regional Director of Education Madam Felicia Agyeibea Okai.

According to the letter, the payment is expected to take effect from March 1, 2022.
“In line with the effort to streamline the anomalies with regards to the payment of rent for occupying school/government bungalows, I wish to draw your attention Ministry of Finance Circular No. 133385/05/06NTR CAGD of 15 May, 2006 requires that occupants of government bungalows are expected to pay 10% of their basic salary as rent.”

“I therefore write to inform you that with effect from March 1, 2022, all teachers /staff occupying school/government bungalows are to pay 10% of their basic salary” the release stated.”
