The Ghana Education Service (GES) has given approval for the organization of recommended training workshop for teachers.

In a letter sighted by Coverghana.com.gh, the Volta Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has granted permission to the management of GIM School and Educational Consultancy to organize training workshop for teachers on the current Education Policies and Legal Framework.

This workshop is a necessity for all teachers since it forms part of the National Teaching Council’s new guidelines for renewal of teachers’ license.

Earlier, the National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced that, license would be given to all teachers in Ghana as a means of promoting teachers professionalism.

According to NTC, the license will be renewed after every three years based on the number of points accumulated through a training workshop among others.

In this regard, the GIM School and Educational Consultancy has been granted the permission to organize recommended workshop for teachers.

COST OF THE TRAINING WORKSHOP

The letter signed by the Volta Regional Director of Education, Enyonam Afi Amafuga (Ms) said, all professional teachers are expected to pay Seventy Ghana Cedis (GH¢70.00) each for the workshop. The teachers are directed to register with the Head of their school for the payment of the registration fee.

BENEFITS FOR THE WORKSHOP 

According to the Regional Director, the benefits for the training workshop include Certificate, Launch, Course Materials and Post-Training Assessment Test.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TRAINING WORKSHOP

Teachers were further directed to bring along Professional Certificates, First Appointment Letter, Active E-mail Address, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Number and Passport Picture.

DISTRICTS DIRECTED TO ORGANIZE THE WORKSHOP

The training workshop is scheduled for three (3) Districts in the Volta Region of Ghana. These include, South Tongu, North Tongu and Kpando Districts.

TARGET GROUPS

Kindergarten, Primary, Junior High and Senior High school teachers as well as Teachers in Administration of the following ranks:

1. Newly Qualified Teacher/Service Personnel

2. Superintendent II

3. Superintendent I

4. Senior Superintendent II

5. Senior Superintendent I

6. Principal Superintendent

7. Assistant Director II

8. Assistant Director I

DATES AND VENUE FOR THE WORKSHOP

Giving a detailed breakdown of programme line-up, the Director said, the workshop will take place on 30th November, 2021 at Sogakope Senior High School Conference Hall, 1st December, 2021 at Volo SHS Assembly Hall, and 2nd December, 2021 at Kpando SHS Conference Hall for South Tongu, North Tongu and Kpando Districts respectively.

Management of the Volta Regional Directorate of Education expects that, all the guidelines of the Ghana Education Service will be strictly observed.

WHAT NECESSITATES THE VOLTA REGIONAL DIRECTOR’S DIRECTIVE?

The Volta Regional Director’s directive came after the management of GIM School and Educational Consultancy had written to the Volta Regional Directorate on October 26, 2021 requesting a slot to organize training workshop and sensitization on education policies for teachers.

According to Management of GIM, they have been granted permission by National Teaching Council, Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to conduct sensitization workshop for all teachers on education policies.

GIM further added that, there will be free NTC registration onto the Teacher Portal Ghana (TPG). In addition, there will be a written assessment right after the training to determine how many credit points each participant earns out of the available 8 credit points assigned by the NTC.

GHS partners GES to vaccinate school children from 15 years and above

Management of GIM explained that, this workshop is part of nationwide assignment to cover every teacher in Ghana at public and private institutions by December 2021.
