Ghanaian Chef, Abdul-Razak Failatu (Jah Bless Faila) is set to attempt the World Record for the Longest Cooking Marathon (Cook-A-Thon) by an individual.

Failatu is attempting to break the longest cooking marathon (Cook-A-Thon) in the Guinness World Records set by an individual.

Currently, Ugandan Chef, Mama D is in the process of breaking and setting the world record for cooking by an individual for the longest hours.

Before the Ugandan chef, Mama D, an Irish Chef based in Japan by the name Alan Fisher broke Hilda Baci, the Nigerian chef’s record.

Faila is attempting to cook for 120 hours. But as it stands, she has to raise the Cook-A-Thon bar high. She must cook for at least 168 hours which is equivalent to 7 days before she’ll be able to break and set a new high bar. Faila making it 7 days will be interesting and fascinating because the Ugandan is still in the process.

Faila will commence her Cook-A-Thon on the 1st of January, 2024 at the Modern City Hotel, Tamale.

Records

  • Hilda Baci, representing Nigeria, secured the individual record for the longest cook-a-thon. Her remarkable achievement spans an impressive 121 hours, 23 minutes, and 45 seconds. This culinary feat took place in Kano, Nigeria, from November 15 to November 20, 2023.
  • Alan Fisher from Ireland set the individual record for the longest cook-a-thon, clocking in at 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023. (current holder as of the time we published this article).
  • Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe also known as Mama D, achieved a potential Guinness World Record as an individual by surpassing an Irishman’s cooking record of nearly 120 hours.

Mama D has been cooking for 123 hours and 20 minutes. She set out to cook on December 23 and plans to finish by December 31

However, her accomplishment is currently pending confirmation from GWR officials, adding an extra layer of anticipation to her achievement.

Wishing Jah Bless Faila the best in her Cook-A-Thon journey.
