The leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has apologized for the 2% deduction and promised to address the issue at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.

The release dated November 29, 2023, was signed by Thomas T. Musah (General Secretary) and copied to The National Officers (GNAT) and Deputy General Secretaries (GNAT).

The release was issued to address the dissatisfaction expressed by GNAT members yesterday, November 28, 2023, due to the 2% deduction from their Basic salary into the Provident Fund Scheme (Tier-3).

Fast-forward, today November 29, 2023, the mother association, GNAT held a meeting to apologize, address, and take steps at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).

GNAT’s ISSUED NOTICE AFTER THE MEETING

Following the National Officers meeting held today Wednesday, November 29, 2023, on the deduction of the two percent (2%) on the basic salary for the GNAT Provident Fund Scheme (Tier-3) for all non-contributing GNAT members, and our letter Ref 0844/VOL..11/93/23 dated November 14, 2023, on the above subject matter;

We write to withdraw the said letter and apologize for any inconveniences caused to the National Council and our members.

Meanwhile, we wish to assure the National Council and all our members that their concerns are not only welcomed but also noted and that steps are being taken to address them at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
