GNAT, NAGRAT, CCT-GH writes on toppling challenges affecting teachers negatively
Leaders of Pre-Teetiary Teacher Unions
The leadership of the Teacher Unions, Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concern Teachers (CCT-GH) write to express their disappointment and displeasure on some developments that are negatively affecting teachers which could lead to disturbing the industrial peace and harmony within the Pre-Tertiary education landscape.
This update was jointly signed by Thomas T. Musah, General Secretary (GNAT), Eric Agbe-Carbonu, (President, NAGRAT), and King Ali Awudu (President, CCT-GH) on 29th February 2024.
According to the Teacher Unions, the following are some of the challenges amongst others.

DELAY IN THE NEGOTIATIONS OF THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
Negotiations have not been completed despite the agreement made during the enactment of the rules of engagement that it should be completed on or before February 29, 2024. This is as a result of government laxity, excuses, and feet dragging come to the table for it to be done. We take a serious view and objection to government behaviour.
SALARY BLOCKAGE BY THE OFFICE OF SPECIAL PROSECUTOR
A fortnight ago, the leadership of the three Teacher Unions informed the general public through media interaction that, a number of teachers have had embargo laid on their salaries at their respective banks without the knowledge of the employer and employees. The reasons are also not known.
This unfortunate action and directive came from the Office of the Special Prosecutor. Contrary to reports that the salaries had been paid, reports reaching us indicate that a large number of teachers are still not able to assess their salaries which they have legitimately worked for.
We want to state clearly that, the leadership of the three (3) Teacher Unions will not sit by unconcerned for this development to continue.
Conclusion
We would like to reiterate that if within two weeks, starting from the date of this letter, the above issues are not addressed completely, the industrial peace within the Ghana Education Service may be disturbed.
