GNAT suspends Tier 3 contributions and calls for refund to affected members

The leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has suspended the Tier 3 contributions and is working towards refunding the deducted amount of money to the affected members.
The suspension and refund notice dated December 4, 2023, was signed by the Head: Compensation and Benefits for General Secretary, Mr. Isaac Baah.
The letter reads
RE: SUSPENSION OF TWO PERCENT (2%) ON BASIC SALARY DEDUCTION FOR GNAT PROVIDENT FUND SCHEME (TIER 3) FOR NON-CONTRIBUTORS GNAT MEMBERS AND REFUND OF NOVEMBER 2023 DEDUCTION
Referencing our letters REF: 0844/VOL.11/86/23 and REF: 0844/VOL 11/93/23 dated 6 October, 2023 and 14 November, 2023 respectively on the above caption,
We humbly request for an indefinite suspension of the above deduction, and a refund of the November 2023 deducted amount to the affected members.
This has come as a result of a decision taken by the National Officers of GNAT in a meeting held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, to suspend the deductions as referenced above.
We apologise for the inconvenience this decision has created in your outfit.
