6-unit classroom block to Naaga Primary School in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality
As part of GNPC’s core objects in delivering infrastructure to the benefit of Ghanaians, especially providing a state-of-the-art facility to enhance the relationship between educators and educands, a 6-unit classroom block was handed over to Naaga Primary School in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region.
At a short ceremony to hand over the facility to the school authority, the Head of Environment and Social Amenities Unit of GNPC Foundation, Loubabat Habib-Jawulaa informed the people that, it is a deliberate policy of GNPC to invest a significant portion of our share of the oil revenue in providing social interventions suchlike this to improve the quality of life of the people of Ghana. She urged them to inculcate a high sense of maintenance culture in order to preserve the facility for longer use.
The headteacher of the school, Mr Robert Ayesiyinga who described their old structure as a death trap expressed gratitude to GNPC for the constructed classroom block which will prevent the threat of harm and or death that the obsolete and dilapidated structure posed to the pupils.He also pleaded with the parents gathered to bring their children to school and to refrain from consenting to early marriages of their girl child.
The MCE for Kasena-Nankana Municipality, Hon Joseph Adongo impelled the school’s authority to take proper care of the facility and appreciated GNPC for coming to their aid.
The paramount chief of Naaga Traditional area, Naaba Alebzire Olando A. Awini III prayed to GNPC to continuously support the community with basic infrastructure as they are bereft of such facilities.
Some attendees at the event were the former Regional Minister, Hon Tangoba Abayage, Deputy Director in Charge of Planning at the Ghana Education Service, Mr Albert Adonnawura, School Improvement Support Officer (SISO), Mr Maurice Akamini, School Management Committee Chairman, Mr Thomas Anoah, inter alia.
