Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has indicated that, the government will soon commence work on building hostel facilities for the Colleges of Education across the country.
The construction of the 300-bed hostels blocks is expected to commence on June 1, 2022.
The project, estimated at the cost of ¢485 million is being funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
The project when completed is set to help accommodate the increased number of trainees whiles improving teaching and learning.
The initiative is one of the government, through the Ministry of Education and it’s agency, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
According to the Minister, local contractors would be engaged to execute the project and expected to be handed over to the Colleges by August 2023.
The project is expected to some over 2,500 direct and indirect temporary jobs for the youth in the country.
