The Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) has made a history for the people of Volta Region in the ongoing 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) contest since the inception of the Programme.

The School, popularly known as Dzolali has defeated the Wesley Girls’ Senior High School and the Tamale Senior High School at the Semi-Final to booked a place at the grand finale for the first time in the history of the the National Science and Maths Quiz..

Since the commencement of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in 1994, no school from the Volta Region has qualified from the Semi-Final stage to the finals.

The performance of Keta Senior High Technical School from the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region is a dream come true for the school, constituents and especially, Voltarains across the globe as they flood social media with refreshing and heartwarming messages to congratulate the DZOLALIANS of Keta.

Earlier, the contestants of Keta Senior High Technical School won St. Louis SHS and Ghana National College at the Quarter-Final Stage where they miraculously answered an incomplete question during the ongoing National Science and Mathematics Quiz Contest.

During the contest held at KNUST, the contestants of the Keta Senior High Technical School surprised the entire audiences including the quiz mistress Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann by providing an accurate answer to an incomplete mathematics question. The quiz mistress was amazed because, she hasn’t finished reading the question.

Though, some individuals on social media has tagged the students to have used “juju” in answering the question, it cannot be proofed since there’s no paremeter to measure that.

A key element of the National Science & Maths Quiz is claiming the bragging rights as national champions of Science and Maths.

Participants or Contestants over the years look forward to winning so they can beat their chests and recount how they beat so and so school to win the trophy. This is the dream of the Keta Senior High Technical School to make Volta Region and its inhabitants proud in the 2021 contest.

At this moment, even if KETASCO fails to win the trophy, they remain the first school from the Volta region to make it to the finals of the National Science and Maths Quiz.

At the end of the contest, Keta Senior High Technical School had 53pts, Wesley Girls’ High School had 35pts and Tamale Senior High School has 31pts.

Keta SHTS win the Goil Riddle Bonanza, worth Gh¢ 2000 for solving 3 out of the 4 riddles in Round 5 of their semifinal contest.

The also earned Gh¢3180 in the Absa Bank Ghana Money Zone based on their total scores in their Semifinal contest.
