KETA BUSINESS COLLEGE
Keta Business College commonly referred to as KETABUSCO is one of the top-notch Business Senior High Schools/Colleges located in Keta, Volta Region. It commenced as a private evening school.
FOUNDER OF KETABUSCO
The school was established 86 years ago on January 1st, 1939 by one Late Reverend Adolphus Egbetor Fiagbedzi at Tegbi, Keta.
KETABUSCO NAME TRANSFORMATION
Initially, KETABUSCO was known as First Century Gospel Industrial College (FICEGOIC) from its inception. Due to the pronunciation and simplification of the name, they concluded on “FICEGO” instead of the initial “FICEGOIC“.

Later the school’s name was changed to First Century Gospel Business College. This time, Business College was part of the name, unlike the initial name.
Again, the name was transformed into a new one leaving First Century Gospel out of it.
The new name from that time till date is Keta Business College (KETABUSCO).
MOTTO OF KETABUSCO
The motto of Keta Business College (KETABUSCO) is FINIS CORONAT OPUS translated into the English language as “The End Crowns the Work“.
FIRST ENROLMENT OF KETABUSCO
The school started will only a student from its inception on January 1st, 1939. Statistically, KETABUSCO has student enrollment of 1, 742 as of 2021/2022 academic year admissions.
FIRST DESIGNED CURRICULUM FOR KETABUSCO
The founding father, Reverend Fiagbedzi designed a 2-year course curriculum for the school which has the following study areas:
- English Language
- Short-hand (Pitman)
- Typewriting
- Principles of BookKeeping
- Office Practice
- Word study
- Penmanship
- Music
Reverend Fiagbedzi contributed immensely to the success of the school for almost a decade and a half (14 years) before he passed away in 1953.
History and hard work continued through his son by the name Emmanuel Fiagbedzi after succeeding his father from where he paused.
During the reign of Emmanuel Fiagbedzi, he prolonged the duration of the course to three (3) years. Also, the curriculum enjoyed the same facelift from 2 years to 3 years.
The prolongation of the curriculum came with a widening of the area of study.
EXTENDED COURSES AFTER 1953
The course studied after extending the curriculum are were:
- Literature-In-English
- Secretariat Practice
- Accounting
- Business Arithmetic
- Commerce
- Geography
- French
- Bible Knowledge
According to the history of KETABUSCO, it was through the above-listed courses in the school which made it a leading private Business /or Commercial school in the Southern Volta Region.
Also, it brought the school into the mainstream of Secondary School education in the southern part of the Region.
Fast forward, the government absorbed KETABUSCO into the public system in 1965 and extended the study of the new courses to five (5) years in order to be in line with the already set standard for Government Assisted Secondary Schools in the country.
Nine (9) years of its absorption, marking it on June 1974, the school registered its first batch of candidates for the same year.
The program continued for 13 years before it was changed again.
KETABUSCO 1987/1988 ACADEMIC YEARÂ
The next curriculum that KETABUSCO taught their students was the new educational reforms programs of the 1987/1988 academic year.
It was this 1987/1988 academic year which produced the first batch of JSS graduates that got admission to Secondary Schools in January 1991.
The school chalked many awards and other academic successes since its inception till date.
