Hon. Woyome appeals to constituents to assist Police enforce security in South Tongu

The South Tongu Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has appealled to his constituents to support the Law enforcement agencies especially the Ghana Police Service to ensure maximum security within the constituency.
Speaking at the Sela Radio 97.1 MHZ, on Sunday, 5th June, 2022 on the Programme @Ask Woyome, he said, it’s important for every individual in the Constituency to support fight insecurity.
He explained that, the issue of insecurity in Ghana is on the rise and South Tongu is of no exception.
The Member of Parliament has also appealled to Landlords, Landladies, and individuals who are responsible for renting apartments to strangers to ensure that, proper background checks are done on tenants or occupants of their rooms or persons who intend to rent apartment from them before releasing the rooms.
He again called on his constituents to report any cases of insecurity, armed robbery or attempted armed robbery cases to the Ghana Police Service for proper security measures and protection.
In the recent times, the South Tongu Constituency has recorded series of armed robbery attack, theft, killing/shooting of innocent people among many.
One recent case among many was the death of a missing seventeen (17) years old boy found dead in the Volta lake near Sogakope bridge on the Sogakope-Fievie Dugame road in the South Tongu District, Volta Region.
Another case was the killing of a 35-year-old man, JUSTICE AKORLI in an attempted robbery operation at Hlevi, a suburb of sogakope.
According to the police report, robbers, numbering about three and masked went to the house of a Mobile money merchant at the dawn of Tuesday, 26 October, 2021 around 1am.
The occupants of the house whilst sleeping heard an unusual noise on their compound and woke up only to notice three assailants within their compound and forcing the merchant’s door open.
They screamed for help compelling Justice Akorli aged 35 now deceased who was sleeping in the next room to come out.
The assailants shot him in the lower abdomen then started firing indiscriminately and left the house afterward. The victim was rushed to Sogakope District Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A team of crime scene experts visited the scene to conduct reconstruction and analysis. Two empty shells of BB cartridges were found.
Till now, there has been no case of culprit on the said case.
The police are appealing to the public to volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of these criminals.
The Lawmaker, who is trying his best to fight insecurity issues in South Tongu has called on his constituents to support the Ghana Police Service to ensure their maximum protection.
