I hid from my team to record “Try Me” because I don’t want any advice -Sarkodie discloses

Sarkodie revealed that he wrote and released the record, “Try Me” from his team because he don’t want any advise.

Sarkodie, the award-winning rapper, recently opened up about the backstory of his song “Try Me” which was directed towards Yvonne Nelson in response to allegations made in her memoir about being impregnated by him.

In his opened-up on the story, he surprisingly revealed that his team had no knowledge of his intentions to record the song and that he had to sneak into the studio to do it.

He made the revelation in a conversation with Angela Yee, former host of the Breakfast Club. In the conversation, he (Sarkodie) clarified that contrary to popular belief, his team was not supportive of his actions. He disclosed, “People think my team is in support of what I did on the record. None of them knew I did the record because I was on tour when it happened, so…” It appears that he kept his plan a secret from his team members to prevent them from dissuading him from recording the song.

Sarkodie admitted that he is not entirely proud of how he responded to the matter, but he was driven by strong emotions that led to the spontaneous creation of the song.

He stated, “Sometimes, when I feel something, then the lyrics are going to come right there and then. I sneaked into the studio to even record this, I didn’t let anybody hear it because I didn’t want to hear any advice, I just literally wanted to do what I felt at that point and face the consequences later on but it wasn’t like the whole team sat down and said this is how it’s going to go. I did not, personally for myself.”

Following the release of the song which had already been leaked on the internet, Sarkodie received numerous phone calls from various people. Interestingly, he mentioned that one person he didn’t hear from who would typically have been the first to reach out, was his lawyer.

Per the conversation, it seems the creation and release of “Try Me” was a highly personal and emotional decision from Sarkodie and he chose to handle it independently with a focus on expressing his feelings through his music.
