I’m Ready to Become Running Mate to John Mahama – Johnson Asiedu Nketia
The General Secretary of the largest opposition party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has reacted to rumors that he is interested in becoming the running mate to the flag bearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama.
Within the last two months, there have been many rumors that Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia is interested in becoming the running mate to John Dramani Mahama and that the former President is considering nominating him as his running mate for the upcoming 2020 general elections.
In an interview on Ghone with Serwa Amihere today 19th may, 2020, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly called General mosquito revealed that, he is interested in becoming the running mate to John Dramani Mahama so that they can win the 2020 general elections.
He said ” it’s not about my interest, I’m interested in getting us in the NDC wining elections. If in the opinion of the party they think that I should carry that mantle, I’m ready for it.”
“But beyond that, I don’t think that the way people look at political positions as things that ought be enjoyed, I don’t see things like that. I see it as responsibilities, I look at the responsibilities and if you’re asking me if I’m prepared to carry that responsibility, I say Yes” Mr Johnson added.
He however stated categorically that, unlike other people, he is not campaigning or lobbying for the running mate slut. He said;
“but beyond that, I’m not campaigning to be running mate because, it doesn’t take a campaign to be a running mate. It takes the decision of the flag bearer and support of the council of elders and the national executives committee. That’s why you have not seen me going round telling anybody that I want to be running mate and this is my campaign team and mymessage“
