Interior Ministry declares May 1 as Statutory Public Holiday

The Minister of Interior, Henry Quartey, has officially declared May 1, 2024, as a Statutory Public Holiday. This declaration was made per the country’s labour laws and traditions.

In an official publication by the Ministry, it was announced that “The general public is hereby informed that Wednesday, 1st May 2024, which marks May Day (Workers’ Day), is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”

This declaration means that all government offices, schools, and businesses will be closed on May 1, 2024, to commemorate the contributions and achievements of workers in the country. The public is advised to observe this holiday and participate in the various activities and events that will be organized to celebrate Workers’ Day.
