The Techiman South Municipal Education Directorate has allegedly created a new bank account for Newly Recruited Teachers posted to the Municipal without their permission.
According to the information picked by Coverghana.com.gh, the IPPD department of the Techiman South Municipal Ghana Education Service (GES) has created the bank account for each teacher without their consent and are forcing them to use the account to process their Biometric Validation instead of their own bank accounts for payment of salaries.
Sources further disclosed that, the said bank accounts were created at the Kuwabre Rural Bank in the Techiman South Municipality meanwhile the teachers have already created bank accounts from GCB, ADB etc and submitted same to the office in the past.
Narrating the issues, an insider told Coverghana.com.gh that, the Municipal IPPD Officer Mr. Bright was the one championing the agenda on behalf of the Directorate.
We have gathered that, the Newly Recruited Teachers are not in agreement with the decision taken by the Directorate to use the Rural Bank account but the IPPD officer is forcing them to use the illegally created accounts for processing their Biometric Validation instead of their own bank accounts.
This came after the Ghana Education Service has released staff ID numbers for the teachers and has schedule date for their Biometric Validation.
The teachers went to the Municipal Office for their employment form and cover letter for the biometric validation where they were forcefully given new Rural Bank account numbers that was created under the directive of the Municipal Education Directorate without their permission.
“In filling the IPPD form, we were supposed to enter our own bank account details but that did not happen. The IPPD coordinator Mr. Bright brought an argument that in the process of entering our bank details, one can make a mistake which they cannot go back to verify and hence he was going to create a unique bank account for each of us. Meanwhile, we were asked to provide our bank account details on a form given to us by the Directorate at the time we submitted our details to the office.” Coverghana.com.gh gathered
Currently, the Newly Recruited Teachers are stranded and do not know what to do. They are therefore calling on the Director-General of GES Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa through the Regional Directorate to immediately intervene.
