Dr Kofi Asare, Educationist and Executive Director of African Education Watch, has added his voice to the current allegations against some named public universities on their inability to attain accreditation for certain programs they’re offering.

According to the 2021 Auditor-General’s reports, two of such named public universities are the University of Ghana in Greater Accra region of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the Ashanti Region who are currently running some of these unaccredited programs.

Dr Kofi Asare indicated that unaccredited programs are actually a waste of money and of no use because the certificates you are given by the institution afterwards cannot be used for anything meaningful.

He said “The certificate you receive after completing an unaccredited programme is as useless as not enrolling. No one recognizes it locally & abroad.”

He also further suggested and cautioned Ghanaians that before enrolling in any Private or Public Institution, they should  check gtec.edu.gh for the actual accredited programmes.
