John Mahama criticizes Akufo-Addo’s appointee over missing millions

Former President John Dramani Mahama has vehemently criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to set a good example with his appointees, particularly after revelations that one of them, Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Abena Dapaah, kept substantial amounts of foreign currency at her residence.
It has been alleged that Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah stored $1 million, €300,000, and an undisclosed sum of Ghana Cedis in her home. Shockingly, these funds were reportedly stolen by two house helps who are currently facing trial at an Accra Circuit Court.
Expressing his disdain over the matter, Mr. Mahama took to his official Twitter page on Friday, July 21, to denounce such conduct from a state minister, describing it as “scandalous.” He questioned the wisdom of keeping millions of hard currency at home, even if it was acquired through legitimate means.
In his critique, Mr. Mahama also held President Akufo-Addo accountable for this apparent lapse in his administration. The former President’s statements highlight concerns about the ethical standards and accountability within the government’s ranks, particularly among high-ranking officials.
