The Leader and Flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Preaident Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has won the December 2020 Presidential election conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana on Monday, 7th December, 2020.

Nana Akufo-Addo has been declared the president elect at a press conference organize by the Electoral Commission at its Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, 9th December, 2020.

The declaration of the presidential election which was conducted on Monday, 7th December, 2020 by Mrs. Jean Mensa saw President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo winning with a resounding victory.

According to the election results, Nana Addo had a total valid votes of 6,730,413 representing 51.295% against 6,214,889 representing 47.36% of the major opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) John Dramani Mahama.

According to the Electoral Commision, the results were declared without the Techiman South Constituency which has some irregularities. Mrs. Jean Mensa noted that, even if the entire valid votes of the Techiman South Constituency is added to the votes of the Flagbearer of the second Presidential Candidate Mr. John Dramani Mahama, he cannot win the president elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to law, anyone who is not satisfied with the election results can challenge it at the Apex Court within 21 days.
