The management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has updated parents, guardians, and the entire general public on the reporting date for SHS 1 students.

The release dated today, December 2, 2023, was signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit for GES, Mrs. Cassandra Twum Ampofo.

After a series of reconsideration requests from parents, guardians, the public, Parliament House, and other organizations, GES has maintained its stand on the reporting date for SHS 1 students.

The Ghana Education Service earlier announced that the reporting date for first-year students is 4th December 2023 as indicated on the Placement form.

The placement portal went live for check on 28th November 2023 and students are to report for registration and academic work on 4th December 2023.

In today’s update, GES made it clear that their decision is to get the education system back to the pre-covid academic calendar.

“It is the expectation of Management that schools begin registration and orientation of students from the 4th of December 2023,” GES explained.

“Per the academic calendar, there would be a Christmas break on the 21st of December 2023 and resume on the 3rd of January to continue academic work till March 5th 2024.”

“Management urges all students yet to do their Self Placement to do so as quickly as practicable.

“We appreciate all stakeholders for collaborating and supporting the CSSPS process to this point.

“We continue to ask for your patience to ensure the academic calendar for SHS is implemented without hitches in order to get back to the pre-COVID academic calendar.”
