Former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, is set to assume the role of Senior Presidential Advisor to President Nana Akufo-Addo, with a specific focus on economic matters. Sources close to the 3News’ Political Desk have confirmed this impending appointment.

The reports further indicate that Ofori-Atta’s new position will also entail serving as the President’s special envoy on international investment and the capital markets, highlighting the importance of his expertise in these critical areas.

Ken Ofori-Atta, despite facing challenging times and calls for his dismissal by some members of Ghana’s parliament, had served as the country’s longest-serving Finance Minister.

In October 2022, 80 MPs from the NPP party demanded his resignation due to concerns about the state of the economy. The demand was reiterated by the NDC parliamentary caucus in February 2023.
