Kevin David Walters is a former player and professional rugby league football coach from Australia who has been the head coach of the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League since 2021. Walters formerly coached the Queensland State of Origin squad and the Super League French Catalans Dragons.
Walters has previously coached the Queensland State of Origin team as well as the French Catalans Dragons in the Super League. He has also worked as a commentator for Fox League in Australia.
Walters won six rugby league premierships as a player while playing at five-eighth or halfback. He predominantly represented Australia and Queensland in the 1990s. Walters played for the NRL’s Brisbane Broncos and Canberra Raiders, the English Super League’s Warrington Wolves, and the Brisbane Rugby League Premiership’s Ipswich Jets.
Walters attended Bremer State High School before obtaining a sporting scholarship to Ipswich Grammar School for Years 11 and 12, where he and his twin became school prefects. Walters grew up playing football alongside his brothers, Steve and Kerrod in particular, as well as Allan Langer. This group of players became known as “The Ipswich Connection” later on.
