Level 300 student of UEW commits suicide in private hostel

A Level 300 student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has committed suicide in a private hostel.
According to reports, the deceased, Rita Anane was an ICT student of the University. Colleagues attested that she reported to campus on the 2nd day of October, 2023 in order to commence her internship, the mandatory industrial attachment on the same day before the unfortunate incident surfaced.
Our news desk has confirmed that Rita’s untimely death happened through hanging. She hanged herself in her room for no reason(s) as of now.
Investigations by the Police service are underway to reveal the main cause of her untimely death for onward steps.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on Tuesday, 3rd October, 2033 at her hostel in Winneba, off Sir Charles Beach.
Due to the sudden news, her Department, ICT Department declared the day as Black Tuesday and called on all students to observe the day.
Her body has been conveyed by the Police for investigation and further actions before announcing any funeral-related information.
