List of 10 NPP flagbearer aspirants who filed to contest
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially closed the filing of nomination forms for aspirants who wished to contest in their flag bearer race.
The official filing of nomination forms was closed on 24th June 2023.
The party, NPP opened nomination for its presidential primary on May 26, 2023.
The nomination forms were picked by eleven (11) aspirants but unfortunately, one (1) aspirant did not return his filled papers to the office of the party.
The next stage for the contest is to search for who best fits (from the 10 aspirants) to be a flag bearer for the NPP to contest in the coming 2024 general elections.
The aspirants will be vetted by the committee headed by former Speaker of Parliament, Aaron Mike Ocquaye.
The date announced by the party for its Special Elections is 26th August 2023. The said election is to bring down the aspirants to five (5) before the November 4 showdown where a National Conference will be held to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 general election.
The List of the 10 NPP flagbearer aspirants who filed to contest are:
- Mr. Kennedy Agyapong – Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
- Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong – Former General Secretary of the NPP.
- Mr. Kwadwo Poku – Energy Expert.
- Mr. Alan Kyerematen – Former Trade and Industry Minister.
- Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
- Mr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto – Former Food and Agriculture Minister.
- Mr. Boakye Agyarko, – Former Energy Minister
- Mr. Edward Addai-Nimo – Former MP for Asante Mampong.
- Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku – Economist.
- Nana Oppong – Former transport officer at the presidency.
The aspirant who set back after picking the nomination form is said to be Eric Sekyi Nketia, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
